BACK TO STAR HARBOR revisits the original 2007 musical Star Harbor, which made its debut in 2008 at Southwestern Middle School in DeLand, Florida. This updated version is centered on Samantha and her younger sister Melissa, whose relationship faces unexpected challenges when they move to a new town following the tragic death of their parents. Their sadness, anger, and pain lead to emotional decisions that hurt each other even more. Fortunately, the sisters have a strong group of friends—and a sweet though somewhat forgetful grandpa—to support and guide them through their hardships.

Now told almost entirely through song, the musical follows our main characters as they meet new people, make new friends, and learn to honor their past while living in the present and looking to the future. The music spans a variety of genres—including pop, rock, and hip hop—with a number of uptempo tunes and a few powerful ballads.
